Let's Hope March Goes Better

Image
We're late!🙈  We ended up taking Sunny to the ER yesterday morning, so we were a tad distracted.  Sunny finished up her antibiotics for her ear infection, and we were working on recalibrating her body. Overall, she was having a decent week, but had occasional bouts of fussiness. It seemed to us that she was having tummy troubles, which is anticipated after antibiotics.  Thursday evening, her heart rate was above her norm, and didn't settle until we'd given her her dose of Ativan. It was unsettling, as she wasn't nauseous or upset - She was just reclined, watching some Netflix before bed. It would've been one thing if she was fussy, we could try to calm her to bring it down. But she looked completely relaxed, but with an out-of-her-normal-range rate.  She fell asleep after the Ativan, but after about 4 hours, she woke up and was right back up to too high. We tried some Tylenol at home, but ultimately decided to play it safe and take her to the ER.  Eight ...

Ear-itating Week

This week was rough - Sunny's body was getting hit hard by the antibiotics.  After a few days, she started looking less miserable, but was still very sleepy. She started acting a little more like herself, but then seemed like her tummy was really bothering her. Lots of loose stools, toots, and puking:( She'd have bouts of elevated heart rates, and it was mostly just an exhausting week physically & emotionally.  THANKFULLY, she made it through her workout this week and didn't puke until PT Erin walked out the door. We had skipped last week's session because of her sad/ear-infected self. So, I was glad she made it through this one. She's been doing really well tolerating her helmet, and has also been enjoying time in her highchair. Holly, Sunny's nurse, has been amazing at intentionally getting Sunny up and about. She's amazing in general, we love her so much! And it's especially helpful when she takes on getting Sunny moving and grooving - it helps ...

Noggin Probs

Sunny had a relaxed weekend, and it carried into Monday. She had a good full night's sleep Sunday night, and pretty much slept through Holly's shift. I thought it odd, but she will sometimes have those sleepy days. She also just had her clonidine patch changed Sunday night, and sometimes seems to sleep off the fresh dose the following day. But when she woke up Monday afternoon crying, I got very suspicious that something was wrong. After about 4 straight hours of this weird, sad/pouty/tired cry, we tried Tylenol, gas meds, eventually a glycerin suppository - which gave SOME relief, but she started right back up just as her night nurse arrived.  He said he didn't see anything medically that concerned him, and suggested we try her PRN of Ativan to see if that would help. It did for about 4 hours, but then she woke back up upset and sad. That next morning, because she usually does not cry all night, he said he thought it would be worthwhile to get her checked by her PCP. I w...

Fabulous February

We're still enjoying our slow start to the year - low appointment count & just cozy, pretty snow. This month, we have a helmet appointment, & then a general wellness visit at the end of the month.  Nothing was scheduled for this week, but Sunny's heart rate was slightly elevated, and she was having spells of vomiting that were abnormal for her recent self. I called her pediatrician & told them her symptoms & that I was suspicious of another UTI. We had JUST made it through all of January without one, but figured it was hitting her now. They set up an appointment for us to come in the next morning, and saw with a doctor we hadn't yet met. She came in introducing herself & said, "I'm so glad I'm here today, I haven't met Sunny before - they've told me so much about her." I joked that she had some serious street cred, to which she replied "No, she does! And here she is with her perfect porcelain skin." It warms the heart ...
