This week has been pretty relaxed for Sunny! She's resting up from Monday, and we've adjusted some meds & are working on finding the perfect concoction for her.
Lately, she's been a little more irritable. Which we don't mind her sassy self, but it often raises her heart rate a bit too high and her blood oxygen levels get low. Or, she gets real feisty(again, we don't hate her fire) and starts to thrash. Making her breathing tube lose, requiring the respiratory therapy team to have to re-tape it. And that requires deeper sedation for the process, which could mess with her breathing. They've had to re-tape her tube everyday for the last 4 days😬💪🏻
She's restarted her "c-pap" breathing trials, & those have been going pretty well! Nurse Kate, whom we've had for the last 2 days & have again today, said she thinks she's been doing really well overall🧡
Two of our favorite labor & delivery Nurses, as well as the Dr who delivered Sunny, stopped by yesterday to check in on us. This place feels like the Chick-fil-a of hospitals - everyone's so kind & eager to help. It's been such a blessing.
Continued.....
The Maternal Fetal Medicine office wanted us to continue coming in every other week for growth scans to keep an eye on her in case anything else came up. Her growth weight would be in the teens of the percentile range one week, to which they'd say was to be expected with her condition. Two weeks later, she'd be in the 35th percentile & that felt a little more optimistic until she'd drop again at the next two week appointment.
One time I asked how it could jump that much, and the Dr said babies in the womb have growth spurts just like babies on the outside.
One week, there was talk about her head shape being off - again expected because of her condition. Or another time they said blood flow in the umbilical cord was slow - as to be expected. This trend continued throughout, but in September her weight was in the 45th percentile, and the Dr said, "Surprisingly, she's right on track!?" Music to my ears🙌🏻 & after that appointment, her weight stuck to that range......
Prayer requests:
- Continued good "c-pap" trials/ no apnea, & for the ability to keep her airways clear.
- For Sunny to be able to be soothed during her irritated fits & they wouldn't need to sedate her.
- For Alyssa's postpartum mush-feeling brain with what Dr's are saying as Chris goes back to work.
Thank you so. much. We are overwhelmed by the love for this little lady, and allllllll the support we feel🧡
Love,
Chris, Alyssa & Sunny
Night Nurse Aimee had fun accessorizing
Sunny says hi
Majo trying to read the 1911 version of Peter Pan that Alyssa gave up on.
I thought the bow made her hair look more red, but Nurse Jake said he sees the "prettiest flecks of red" in her hair lately:)
