Sidestep

After watching her heart function through weekly echocardiograms & blood work, the Doctors wanted a cardiac catheterization so they could get a better idea of what Sunny's heart was up to. Both the squeeze & relaxation of  her heart were not as efficient as they once had been, and there isn't a clear indication as to why. The catheterization was able to give them numbers, and showed higher pressures. After taking the results to the Dr on service this week & the cardiac surgeon, they decided it best to start her on a medication that should help with the flexibility of her heart. This medication can mess with the rhythm and her blood pressure, so they only administer the drug in the CICU so they are able to keep a closer eye on her.

It feels somber, and like we're taking a step back. But I don't think it is. Her health is, and probably always will be, an ebb & flow. The doctors are just moving in step with her needs - not a step back in progress, more of a sidestep. Like a dance~

She's been put on and taken off several medications over her time here & 2B, but this one just needs closer supervision, and they can do that in the CICU. The plan is to reevaluate next week to see what the team & surgeon are thinking, and go from there.

In other news, Sunny is officially OFF MORPHINEEEEE!!!!! One less narcotic addict out there in the world!🎉

It, again, is so sweet to see how loved she is. The nurse practitioner that's been over in 2B keeps stopping in just to check on her since the move, even though she's no longer in her care this week. And earlier this week, a Dr from Wound Care came to check her stoma(hole for trach), and said last time she needed assistance and asked the nurses station for a hand. She said three different nurses all volunteered, saying how much they loved Sunny. And a lot of the nurses here, while sad that she couldn't stay in 2B, were happy to see her and commented on how big she's gotten and how long her hair grew. It is SO NICE to genuinely be happy to see the nurses over here - it makes it a little easier to transition back over here:)

 Specific prayer requests:

- For Sunny's heart flexibility to improve💪🏻

- For her parents hearts during the emotional roller-coaster that was/is this week.

Thank you!!
