Sunny must have heard me tell her nurses that I hope she keeps being boring for them.


This week - Sunny turned 7 months old, we meet with two potential in-home nurses, and for the most part it was relatively uneventful. However, yesterday she was a little off. The previous night, she needed some extra vent support, and puked up her breakfast Thursday morning at her Tiny Tots play date.  This morning, she was back on her normal vent supports when I came in, but they were running extra tests because she had a pukey night and had some watery stools. After I came in, she continued to vomit up seemingly everything in her stomach. 
We're still awaiting some test results, but everything that has come back has been clear. It's good, but bad because we don't know how to make her more comfortable. 





    Monday, Sunny got her newest accessory added to her collection! During her evaluation in February, her Physical & Occupational Therapists noticed a few things that they thought could be helped by getting Sunny a helmet. Whether it was because it's always been the side that her ventilator is on or if it's just her personal preference, she's always been most comfy turning her head to the left. When she was reeeeel little, the nurses did a good job at rotating her like a cute & hairy rotisserie chicken. As she got older, they still would try to lay her on her right side, prop her back & legs, and tempt her with her glowing "turtle tv" on that side. But she likes what she likes and would usually end up on her back with her head tilted to the left. So, we had a couple measuring meetings a while ago, and then on Monday she got her new purple helmet. 
We were all nervous she would have strong feelings about it, but she was asleep within fifteen minutes of putting it on for the first time! It's a process to slowly get her and her skin used to it, and that process has slowed more with her being agitated and throwing up. But she's gotten lots of compliments on it, and we hope it'll help her be more comfortable in the long run. 




The visits with the prospective nurses went really well! Thank the Lord - We both liked them a lot, and I think the next step would be for them to come and meet Sunny. It's very Sunny fashion to cause some drama when we're getting close to going home haha:) 
We're hoping some test results help us help her, and then we can get back on track for home. We're anxious to get her home and to have her meet her dog-sisters, but we're more than happy to go at Sunny's pace.

- that Sunny would feel better swiftly & that she'd be able to continue the path towards going to her house for the first time on the outside:)

    Purple, one of my two favorite colors. 🤗 You all are in my thoughts and prayers through this journey God has allowed in your lives. Sunny has the perfect parents! So much doting! Hoping she makes improvements in her feedings and complete digestion so you all can begin a new chapter at home together. 🙏🏻 ❤️

 Hi friends! My sister suggested this as a way people can check-in to stay updated when ya want, so we're giving it a try:)  We lovvvve how much love there is for this little girl, and we SO appreciate alllllllllll the prayers & support. We FEEL it.   Sunny is still breathing via intubation, she's on some medications that are allowing her heart to function but also have a known side effect of apnea. Before another extubation is attempted,  Dr's are wanting to insert a stent so that she's able to come off of those meds & then see if the apnea continues or not.  Currently,  she's scheduled for the stent Monday morning - first case🙏🏻 So for this weekend,  she's chilling.  They just upped her dosing as she's a growing lady💪🏻. "Sunny doesn't listen to any of the rules"

Monday at 11:50am, Dr George called to let us know they'd finished up inserting the stent, everything went well🎉 & they were working on getting her back in her room! She started off by saying,  "Sunny doesn't listen to any of the rules." I laughed & told her that's how she's been living her life. To which she replied,  "Yeah! She didn't listen to the chromosonal rules,  she didn't listen to the stent rules..." Sunny slept off the procedure for most of the rest of the day.  The Dr on this week said they'll most likely attempt to resume her "c-pap" breathing trials Today. She had previously done really well with those, but more recently was having more spells of apnea. We're hoping those will improve since taking her off of the heart meds - if it does improve, they'll likely attempt one more extubation.     It's true though. She's never doing the thing expected of her & we love that able about our girl...

Pockets of Sunshine

  This week has been pretty relaxed for Sunny! She's resting up from Monday,  and we've adjusted some meds & are working on finding the perfect concoction for her.   Lately, she's been a little more irritable. Which we don't mind her sassy self, but it often raises her heart rate a bit too high and her blood oxygen levels get low.  Or,  she gets real feisty(again, we don't hate her fire) and starts to thrash. Making her breathing tube lose, requiring the respiratory therapy team to have to re-tape it. And that requires deeper sedation for the process, which could mess with her breathing.  They've had to re-tape her tube everyday for the last 4 days😬💪🏻 She's restarted her "c-pap" breathing trials,  & those have been going pretty well!
