Homestretch
This week has been weird, but for all the right reasons.
Coming into the hospital and doing all our normal things, and then beginning to tie up the loose ends for discharge. She's had all her normal PT & OT workouts, visits from her favorite environmental workers, rounds, and usual daily snuggles. She made her weekly standing playdate with OT Jackie, PT Marcy, and Child Life Coordinator Kennedy who brought party hats to celebrate Sunny's last Tiny-Tots session. During which, the team paused rounds, & nurses swung by so they could come watch all the cute kiddos socializing. It's so weird being so used to seeing all of these wonderful people everyday, it was such a harsh reality when Wednesday rolled around and some of them were saying goodbye because they aren't working again until after we leave.
It really is so odd. We've been working towards and waiting for this day for so long, and it's still so hard to say goodbye. We're feeling nervous about taking this miracle girl home away from the teams of nurses, doctors ect, & it'll be exciting and unnerving to get used to taking her out and about.
We're SO excited just to be able to take her home! Just sitting on the couch with her will be fun, and we're eager to introduce her to her two doggo sisters. AND we're so sad to leave the friends we've made her. It's definitely been the biggest "perks" of being here for 10 months. The other day while I was ordering lunch, the lady behind the counter asked why I was here on my day off:)
We recognize people in the hallways and all throughout the building. It definitely feels so much warmer and comfortable than when we were first here.
I'm glad for Sunny's follow-up visits here - it'll be weird getting used to seeing the individual specialists in different parts of the outpatient portion of the building, but it'll be fun to swing by our cardiac unit friends for a quick hello.

Health-wise, Sunny's been doing well this week! Her blood pressures have been lower than her norm(which is good), and she's been tolerating feeds and gaining weight! I'm a taaaad nervous that her "puke day" hasn't happened yet...It's a good thing, but the change is suspicious to me. I'd LOVE for it just to be her body getting used to & liking the J-tube feeds, but we'll see!
Prayer requests:
- For discharge to go smoothly and for us to be able to enjoy it and the last bit of being here.
- Health for us & Sunny
Thank you so very much. I've cried most days this week out of pure gratefulness. The love we've felt through all of this is ACTUALLY overwhelming.
Love,
Chris, Alyssa & Sunny

Room is slowly getting ready
Last tiny-tots session♥️
Some of Sunny's favorite nighttime nurses getting some quality time in before Tuesday 😭♥️♥️ We love them so much!
Played in the Healing Garden last week
Cousins came to visit last weekend!!
This is Sunny's second controversial fruit outfit. Nobody knows if it's oranges or peaches....🤷♀️
We completed our 24hr Supervised Family Care last weekend & passed it AND the simulation lab!!
Papa was hanging with Sunny on her playmat during our 24hours
& This picture was from exactly 1 year ago today. Pregnant & getting car seat out and situated because the MFM doctors were anticipating Sunny coming early, so we were trying to be "ready".
I think Sunny is modeling a peachy style.😉 🍑 Wow! The big day is right around the corner. Praying for you all and the approaching new chapter in your lives! 🙏🏻 ❤️
