This week, Sunny reminded us to take her on more walks outside.

Over the weekend, Sunny was rather retchy & that is sometimes pretty normal for her. People know she gets her usual "retch day" and her heart rate increases and she just is uncomfortable. It usually subsides, her heart rate normalizes and she gets back to her normal self. 
Saturday Sunny was veryyyy fussy. We tried all the tricks of giving her comfort, but the only one that worked was holding her(which we didn't hate:). It was sweet, but not her normal. Thankfully, she was able to sleep well that night, and while she wasn't back to her regular self on Sunday, she was less fussy and after her afternoon nap her heart rate was closer to where we liked to see it. 

Tuesday, we were in for some outpatient appointments & went up to visit our 2b friends afterwards. It was so sweet to see some of fave peeps! On our way out, Sunny's in-home nurse commented on how loved she was ♥️.

She must've enjoyed the visit with her friends because Wednesday morning, we were headed back to the Nemours emergency department. 
That morning, she was just retching more than normal, her heart rate was up and she was just uncomfortable. When her nurse paused her J-tube feeds, he noticed some stomach juices coming out through the tube extension. That, we hadn't seen before and we were worried it was indicative of her tube being displaced & no longer in the jejunum. 
We stopped feeds and didn't give her any morning meds in fear of putting it somewhere it shouldn't be and making her feel worse. 
I messaged some doctors on the hospital portal, but just decided to gather things to go to the ER in the meantime. Sunny was notttt having a good morning, so I asked Chris to come back from work to come with us. 

We got to the ER and after a series of tests and things, they discovered that she had a UTI.
Her body was having trouble staying in her preferred range of blood oxygen saturation & was needing a little extra oxygen, so the cardiac team thought it best to keep an eye on her to make sure the UTI was the only issue. 

Some of Sunny's night shift besties were on duty when we made it up to 2B, & that was very sweet to see them and know she'd be VERY well cared for. 

We're still hanging out here in the hospital and hopefully we'll be home soon, but we'll see. 



We'd appreciate prayers that it was JUST the UTI & that Sunny starts feeling more herself swiftly.

    Sorry to hear all that Sunny has been through recently. I hope she’s back home by the time you read this. She’s growing so much. Been keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers! 🙏🏻 ❤️

 Hi friends! My sister suggested this as a way people can check-in to stay updated when ya want, so we're giving it a try:)  We lovvvve how much love there is for this little girl, and we SO appreciate alllllllllll the prayers & support. We FEEL it.   Sunny is still breathing via intubation, she's on some medications that are allowing her heart to function but also have a known side effect of apnea. Before another extubation is attempted,  Dr's are wanting to insert a stent so that she's able to come off of those meds & then see if the apnea continues or not.  Currently,  she's scheduled for the stent Monday morning - first case🙏🏻 So for this weekend,  she's chilling.  They just upped her dosing as she's a growing lady💪🏻. Sunny Should Get a Cath Lab Punch Card

  Last Friday, our doctors sat us down to discuss Sunny's heart function.  Since the middle of February, they had been keeping an eye on it because of some decreased in function. We moved back into the CICU to start her on a drug that they hoped would improve the squeeze & relaxation of her heart.  After about five days on the IV medication, Sunny had an Echocardiogram to check if it had helped.  It hadn't. The dosage was increased on Monday of last week, and an Echo was ordered for that following Wednesday.  Because there was still no improvement of function, the team discussed Sunny again during the Thursday surgical conference.  On Friday, it was expressed to us that because her heart was not responding, it was not likely she'd recover from a heart surgery.  Since her heart wasn't improving on the medication, they thought it likely that it was ultimately her Trisomy diagnosis that was affecting the muscle as a whole, and not something as tweakab...

I get by with a little help from my friends

       This week was a little rough for Miss Sunny Buns:/  Monday, she grew noticeably more irritable at times and her breathing & blood oxygen saturation were not as they recently have been. The team was quick to run tests & do imaging to check off any of the scarier possibilities - all came back unalarming. They tested some mucous to check if she was coming down with something, but that also came back normal. One nurse mentioned that it's possible she could still be coming down with something, but they just tested too early. It was also suggested that it could just be her sensitivity to the morphine wean? But either way, they're continuing to keep a close eye on her.  Tuesday, she was just very very off.  Luckily, we had a nurse who'd had Sunny last week and was able to see the difference alongside us.  Sunny's stats were just off, she was irritable/wouldn't settle for long, & her breathing was just different.
