Thriving Winter Girly
Sunny had a nice week with NO appointments:) While we always enjoy seeing the members of her team, after last week's marathon of appointments, we needed this week of calm.
Sunny had an amazing Sunday, and was content - even taking a nap - in the sanctuary during the whole service! That was her first time making it the whole way through(nothing personal pastor Nathan & Bobby). She usually got fussy, needing a diaper change, and then would fall asleep out on the lobby couch. After church, her Dad gave her a bath in the tub while I prepped supplies for a trach change. I wish we could give her the bath after, because it relaxes her so, but it worked out well because we changed the soggy trach ties right after the bath. She was still pretty chill, and fell asleep right after:)
We cancelled her Early Intervention PT workout Tuesday because she was a tad more nauseous than normal that day into Wednesday midday. After a few good naps Wednesday, chica was feeling much better and we had a fun, cozy girls day. Her Nurse, Erik, had to help out with another case, so it was just the two of us for most of the day. We wouldn't have been able to do it without our night nurse, Kyle, but I was able to sleep, & we didn't have anywhere to go. I hadn't begun Christmas decorating (which is very unlike me, but I was hesitant because of all the things in the house with Sunny's supplies...AND the electric usage lol), so during one of her naps, I quietly began bringing some things up. Sunny already really likes the twinkling lights we have by our front window♥️.
We had another morning with just the two of us(and the dogs obviously) this morning! Chris's work Christmas party is tonight, and Erik had offered to adjust his shift to cover that time. Instead of leaving at 3pm, he's coming at that time and allowing us to go out - just the two of us - for the first time since....... Well. I'm not sure how long, but it was when Sunny was inpatient. We're excited, and grateful for our team.
OH! Annnnnd she's been doing SO well with her trials of being off the vent! She's been off of it for over 10 minutes, and has yet to notice! We replace the vent circuit with an HME - Heat & Moisture Exchanger. It helps do the job that our nose/mouth do when we breath, and it's important to help keep her from getting plugs in her trach. Sometimes we leave her suction attached, but sometimes we just pop it on if we need it. Often, these trials are during her 4 hour feeds break, so she's ONLY connected to her pulse oximeter.... Which is CRAZY.
This week, I went through all of the clothes she no longer fits into. Her torso is just so long, most of her favorite one-pieces no longer fit.

Always look forward to Sunny’s updates. I was wondering if you guys journeyed out for your family Thanksgiving Day gathering. So glad you guys had the courage to make the trek and that Sunny did great! Happy Belated Birthday, Sunny! Continued prayers coming your way! ππ» ❤️
